Ed Sheern dating Selena Gomez ?

She was one of Hollywood’s most eligible bachelorette following her highly publicised split with ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber.

But it appears that Selena Gomez may have now moved on with an older and more ‘mature’ musician.

The American pop star is reportedly dating British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran after being introduced by mutual friend Taylor Swift.

The Come And Get It star, who recently ended her on/off relationship with Bieber for good, is reportedly hooking up with Sheeran.

The insider claims the Lego House singer, who previously admitted he ‘wouldn’t complain’ if he was set up with the brunette beauty, 20, has been enjoying romantic dates with her recently after Taylor, 23, introduced them over Memorial Day weekend at the end of May.

Sheeran was even spotted leaving what was said to be Selena’s home just last week, carrying his guitars and loading them into an awaiting limousine.

Ed Sheeran, Jessie J and more to preform in 02 for Stephen Lawerence Trust

The trust set up in the memory of Stephen Lawrence is facing a battle to survive funding cuts, Doreen Lawrence has warned, after the mother of the murdered teenager announced an all-star concert in his memory.

Stephen-Lawrence-gig

Emeli Sande, Ed Sheeran and Tinie Tempah are among the stars who will perform at the O2 Arena concert in September, which marks 20 years since the aspiring 18 year-old architect was stabbed to death by a racist gang.

The show, which also features Plan B, Jessie J and Rizzle Kicks, will raise much-needed funds for the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust, set up in 1999, to help give employment opportunities to young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The Trust has awarded more than 100 bursaries and assisted young black students break into professions such as architecture and law.

But Mrs Lawrence, 60, Stephen’s mother who founded the charity, said it is now struggling to stay afloat.

Twelve full time staff have been let go since funding was withdrawn in 2011 following the closure of the London Development Agency.

Mrs Lawrence said she received emergency funding from the Home Office following a meeting with Theresa May but added “we shouldn’t have to do that”.

She said: “We shouldn’t have to think ‘that’s just a one-off’. They should look to continue to do it.

“They have seen the work that we do, they have seen the progress we have made, they have seen all the opportunities that young people have had since they have been at the Stephen Lawrence Centre.

“I think that should be something that makes them say: ‘OK, we want to support an organisation like you, you can make a difference to so many young lives, get them off the streets, get them into education, get them into a profession.’ That is what I would like to see the Government do a lot more of. It saves money in the long run.”

Ed Sheeran interview

A Telephone interview with Ed Sheeran after the Billboardbiz Awards in LA.

“I’m not Hollywood in the slightest,” the engaging Sheeran said in a telephone interview this week. “I come from a very small town in England (Halifax), growing up watching these sort of events on TV, and then you find yourself at these events. I don’t really dress smart ever. And I don’t really wear designer clothes. So I’m instantly a bit like: Oh (crap), I really should have dressed up for this.”

Still, in his tourmate and friend Swift, he has a good guide to his newly surreal life.

“Taylor sat me next to her and Selena Gomez and they both have the same kind of mind state when it comes to those award shows — it’s either have fun with your friends or don’t go.

“I enjoyed it. I just felt there was a lot of ego in the room. And I’ve never been a fan of ego. I don’t think it’s necessary.”

It will likely be a different experience at this weekend’s fan-fuelled MuchMusic Video Awards, which will again take over downtown Toronto with a streetside bash this Sunday featuring an appearance by Swift and performances from Sheeran, Demi Lovato and Avril Lavigne — a favourite of Sheeran’s.

“I think everyone from my generation was in love with Avril Lavigne,” he laughed. “So that’ll be nice to see her play.”

He’s on similarly good terms with South Korean rapper Psy, who’s co-hosting the show and planning on performing his meme smash “Gangnam Style” and its follow-up, “Gentleman.” Psy has already enthused on the prospect of catching up with Sheeran in Toronto after he says the two drank together in Las Vegas and London, and Sheeran cheerfully returned the praise.

“He’s a really, really nice guy — he can definitely handle his drink,” he said, noting that hanging out with Psy is “kind of everything you’d hope it to be.”

“He’s a very big personality.”

By contrast, Sheeran — with sleeves of tattoos and ginger hair splayed in all directions at once — is soft-spoken and self-effacing. Part of that might come from the way in which he quietly and gradually built his following in North America.

“+” — blending winsome acoustic singer/songwriter pop with a skittering hip-hop influence — was released in the U.K. in summer 2011 and was an instant smash, eventually reaching platinum status six times over and doing so at a faster pace than any U.K. artist at the time other than Adele.

He moved Stateside in January 2012 and he’s spent the vast majority of his time there since, a “scary because you go from hero to zero instantly,” he notes. With virtually no profile in North America despite his exploding success overseas, Sheeran built an audience the same way he did at home — with patient, steady gigging. His debut was eventually released on this continent a year ago, since being certified platinum in Canada and the U.S.

He also performed his hit “The A Team” — written about a crack-addicted prostitute and inspired by a visit Sheeran undertook to a homeless shelter — with Elton John at February’s Grammy Awards, where the tuneful track was up for song of the year. Since March, he’s been opening for Swift on a massive tour that hits Toronto for two dates at the cavernous Rogers Centre this weekend before winding through Winnipeg, Edmonton and Vancouver later this month.

In the meantime, he’s been hard at work on his sophomore record — though, he notes with some astonishment, that hard work has actually been coming quite easily to him.

“They’re writing and recording themselves,” he says of his new songs. “It’s mad.”

He wrote most of his debut when he was 17 years old and recorded it for a mere $20,000, so plenty has changed between records. But he says the difference in sound he’s noticed has more to do with his evolving taste in music than personal growth.

“It’s not like I’ve kind of grown up or evolved — you know how artists say (BS) stories about how they’ve grown up with their fans or whatever — I’m just into a lot of different music,” he said. “My first record was written at a time where I was very influenced by certain acoustic singer/songwriters, and this record has been very influenced by me listening to a lot of hip hop and acoustic singer/songwriters. So it’s a bit of both.

“There’s huge ballads on there that could fill a stadium and then there’s songs that would be in a really dingy underground bar blasting out,” added Sheeran, who’s written songs for Swift and One Direction.

He says he’s finished about 14 songs, four of which are ballads and the rest of which skew more toward the hip-hop inflected sound he’s referenced. That influence was always the most interesting part of Sheeran’s melodic soft-rock, and in pulling it closer to the surface he’s noticed an unlikely comparison point for his new tunes.

“I’ll probably get shot for saying this,” he says with typical self-awareness, “but it’s more in the vein of a Lauryn Hill, ‘Miseducation (of Lauryn Hill)’ kind of vibe.”

Lest anyone think he’s comparing his nascent sophomore album with a broadly beloved all-time classic, he quickly clarifies.

“But I mean, like, don’t expect that kind of record, because that is a record you can’t really recreate,” he said. “But it’s that kind of vibe.”

As quickly as his life has changed and his fanbase has grown, Sheeran has yet to find himself fixed in the collective crosshairs of the paparazzi on a day-to-day basis.

And the songwriter, who has more than 6.6 million Twitter followers, isn’t sure the tabloids will take an interest anytime soon.

“I always expected it to happen and then it never did,” he said. “I think it’s because I’ve never done anything interesting. Like I’ve never been caught taking cocaine or having sex with a stripper, or, you know, things that end up ruining people in the press — I haven’t done these things. I haven’t dated a famous person. I’m not that scandalous. I basically I do my job and I do it well and that’s kind of it.”

Is he happy to have avoided the attention?

“I wouldn’t mind dating a celebrity — that would be quite fun. You never know,” he says with a laugh. “As far as drugs and strippers and all of that sort of stuff, I’m a professional and I worked quite hard to get where I am. And now I’m here, I think it would be silly to let that slip. So I’m going to always turn up on time, I’m going to always do my job, and I don’t think the press can knock me on that.

“But if I ever end up bagging a hottie, then yeah, we’ll see.”

Billboard Music Awards!

At the recent Billboard Music Awards, Ed Sheeran strummed his ballad “Lego House” on a candlelit stage wearing a plain black T-shirt, then went back to his seat in the audience next to Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez. Later, he tweeted: “Dunno if I fit in tonight but I enjoyed it, now to drink…”

It’s a familiar feeling for the 22-year-old British breakout, who moved to the U.S. last year to further his career in North America after striking it big in the U.K. with the folk-hop debut “+” and, despite the major opportunities arriving with furious frequency on his doorstep, still isn’t used to such glitzy events.

Ed Sheeran is the reason Karl Micheal lost first record deal

The Voice contestant Karl Michael announced this week that he lost his first record contract with Atlantic due to record label bigwigs putting all their time and attention into Ed Sheeran.

The 27-year-old, who is currently competing in the BBC1 singing competition, said whether an artist is competing on a show like The Voice or putting together their debut album, being ‘pro-active’ is extremely important.

“Danny made a really good point to me the other day and its a point that I’ve lived by since we first met. When you do The Voice or a TV show and you finish the TV show, you can’t wait for people to come running to you, you have to go running to them.”

He then added: “If you’ve got a day off, fill it with a writing session or you know go out and gig like Ed Sheeran! The best example! That’s the reason we got dropped from Atlantic, as soon as Ed come on the label.

He was just throwing ideas at the company and they were like we’ve got it good man. Lets give him all of our attention and he became the priority act and we got dropped!”

Ouch!

But Karl carries no bitterness towards the Lego House singer and believes losing his contract with Atlantic may have worked out for the best.

“Its good though, everything happens for a reason and I think, I used all that stuff before for learning experiences and now I’ve got ideas that are ready to roll. I’ll never ever let my guard down again.”

The London singer even started working on album and has let his coach Danny O’Donoghue hear some of his new material.

“I’m writing while I’m doing The Voice, I’m using every second to my advantage.”

Ed Sheeran and Will.i.am record covers for global poverty

Will.i.am, Ed Sheeran and Mumford & Sons are among the stars who have recorded new versions of celebrated protest songs to highlight issues of global poverty.

They are joining forces with dozens of musicians to launch agit8, which is campaigning to get world leaders to focus on poverty ahead of the G8 summit in Northern Ireland.

It has been backed by the One Campaign – co-founded by U2 frontman Bono – with videos of the protest songs being shown online to inspire a new generation to fight against injustice.

Other stars enlisted by the campaign include Sting, Elvis Costello, Green Day and chart-toppers Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.

Sheeran, who has recorded a new version of Bob Dylan’s “Masters Of War” for agit8, said: “Music is a powerful tool in galvanising people around an issue. There’s no better way to get your point across than to put it in a beautiful song.”

Bono said: “This week we are reminded of the words of the great agitator Nelson Mandela – ‘Like slavery and Apartheid, poverty is not natural. It is man-made and it can be overcome. Millions of people… are trapped in the prison of poverty. It is time to set them free. Sometimes it falls upon a generation to be great. You can be that great generation’.

“Since the 1970s, Nelson Mandela has called upon artists and bands to use their platform to fight injustice. We were honoured then, we’re honoured now,” Bono added.

His One organisation has also worked with filmmakers and actors including Richard Curtis and Chiwetel Ejiofor to create a half-hour film looking at how protest and music have led to change. It will be projected on to the side of London’s Tate Modern tonight, tomorrow and Thursday at 10pm.

Videos of the protest songs can be seen at one.org/protestsongs and the songs will be available on streaming website Spotify.

The campaign wants the G8 nations, meeting at the summit next week, to throw their weight behind plans to provide more food for Africa, and make financial dealings more transparent for aid and investment in an effort to stamp out corruption and ensure no money is lost from poverty relief efforts.

Ed Sheeran loves Nashville !

Sheeran said he wanted to live somewhere that incorporates a lot of music, has a lot of countryside and a relaxed atmosphere – and isn’t filled with rude people.

“And Nashville is full of very, very nice people,” the 22-year-old said.

Always home to most of country music’s top stars, figures from the pop and rock world have also fallen for the city’s charms. Jack White and The Black Keys moved to Nashville in the last few years. Sheryl Crow calls it home now. And Sheeran can hang out with good friend Taylor Swift.

Like those artists, Sheeran feels comfortable walking the streets.

Unlike Los Angeles and New York, Nashville doesn’t have paparazzi on the lookout for celebs, and most folks in town can have lunch in a public restaurant and be left alone.

“I don’t think people really care in Nashville,” Sheeran said. “Even if they knew who you were, I don’t think they’d care. They’d just be like, ‘Eh.'”

Sheeran said his new home just outside Nashville reminds him of Framlingham, a rural area in England where he grew up before moving to London. And The A Team singer said settling in the US made sense, given his growing popularity here.

He recently performed at the Grammy Awards with Elton John, released a video with Swift for her song Everything Has Changed and was at the CMT Music Awards last week to introduce Lady Antebellum.

“I love America,” Sheeran said on the CMT red carpet. “I’ve been here for a long time, though. So I’d like to get back to England at some point. I’ve been in America since early January 2012 mostly. I’d say 90 per cent in America since January 2012. Long time.”

Ed Sheeran’s ‘The Notebook’ audition!

This is Ed Sheeran’s audition tape for the popular romantic movie ‘The Notebook’. He acts out the role  of Ryan Goslings most famous kissing scenes in the movie. Unfortunately Rachael McAdams wasn’t available to partner up with him so American pop singer Lance Bass happily filled in her place !

We hope that this is Ed’s big break into the movie business !

He uses Ryan Goslings Southern accent from the movie and as it continues it sounds like he’s trying to rap the lines.

Maybe movies isn’t for Ed …

Taylor Swift pranks Ed Sheeran !

The British singer is known for being good friends with American country star Taylor, who he is currently on tour with.

Taylor has been educating him on American culture during their time in the US, although he isn’t sure how seriously to take her at times. She gave him dubious instructions on how to behave at American music awards, causing him to embarrass himself.

“Taylor took me to Disneyland and we went to Vegas to the Billboard Awards together [in May]. It was really cool, but awkward, because 50 per cent of people were really American and 50 per cent were cool. Taylor got me a seat next to her. I didn’t know what to do as at a British ceremony, like the BRIT Awards, you just sit there and get drunk,” he laughed to BBC Radio 1. “But Taylor told me at an American awards when someone wins you stand up and clap, and when someone performs you stand up and dance. Then Taylor disappeared as she had to perform. Nicki Manaj and Chris Brown were behind me, so then after the first award I stood up and no-one else did. It was embarrassing. And at one point I stood up and the only other people who did with me were Nicki Minaj and her posse. It was awkward. Taylor kept popping back to check on me. But she kept winning awards though so she was off again every five minutes.”

Ed likes to wind up Taylor by calling her by a rap inspired nickname, T-Swizz. He also plans to return the favour by teaching Taylor about all things British during their current stay in the UK together.

“I’m hoping to take Taylor to my local pub tonight as she’s never been to a proper pub,” Ed shared.

“I call her T-Swizz. It’s her rap name. I hope she’ll come, I think Jodran from Rizzle Kicks is coming as well. We’ll be really English and she’ll feel really awkward. She can bring Nicki Minaj – she’s good at fake English.
